Standing Up to Racism Starts With Us
Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, violence and discrimination against AAPIs have surged across the country. AAPI community members have been targeted in verbal assaults, physical violence, workplace harassment, and housing discrimination. But the truth is, anti-AAPI hate is not new. It is rooted in generations of exclusion, scapegoating, and xenophobia that continue to be perpetuated today.
In the face of this violence, AAPI communities are showing extraordinary resilience and unity. Local grassroots organizations have stepped up—organizing safety patrols, offering victim support, and educating communities about how to respond to hate crime incidents. The AAPI Civic Engagement Fund helps ensure that these groups have the resources they need, when and where they need them most.
We believe real safety comes from strong, resourced communities. Our mission is to uplift community-led solutions that educate communities, promote healing, and empower AAPI families
We can all play a role in keeping our communities safe.
How You Can Take Action:
- Volunteer with a local organization working on racial justice, victim support, or AAPI community safety. Your time and skills can help protect our most vulnerable.
- Report hate crimes when you see them. Reach out to your state’s Attorney General to report hate or discrimination.
- Speak out against racism, bias, and misinformation. Share facts, amplify AAPI voices, and challenge stereotypes in your circles and on social media. We’ve created language and messaging guides you can use to push back on anti-AAPI narratives and help create positive, multidimensional AAPI stories.
- Donate to support our community-led response efforts. Your contributions go directly to grassroots organizations working on the frontlines of hate prevention and healing.
