AAPI Civic Engagement Fund Awards $1 Million to 13 Organizations Ahead of 2024 Elections

October 15, 2024 – One-time grant aimed to strengthen civic engagement where AAPIs are growing in strength

The AAPI Civic Engagement Fund, one of the largest funders of local and state-based Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) organizations in the nation, announced today $1 million in 13 grants to address challenges and strengthen AAPI civic engagement ahead of the consequential presidential elections this November.

Grants were awarded to:

  • Adhikaar for Human Rights and Social Justice (New York)
  • Asian Americans Advancing Justice-Atlanta
  • Asian Americans for Texas Table
  • Asian Community Development Council (Nevada)
  • Asian Pacific Islander Political Alliance (Pennsylvania)
  • Emgage Michigan
  • Emgage Texas
  • Florida Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders for Progress Table
  • OCA-Greater Houston
  • Rising Voices Fund (Michigan)
  • Sikh American Legal Defense and Education Fund

  • Viet Fact Check

This one-time grant follows almost $6.2 million awarded to 52 organizations across the United States in April 2024 to build AAPI power and advance racial justice and solidarity in communities across the country. Learn about the grantees here.

“AAPI Civic Engagement Fund is committed to resourcing the breadth of Asian American and Pacific Islander organizations,” said EunSook Lee, Executive Director of the AAPI Civic Engagement Fund. “With only weeks away from the 2024 general election, it is critical to activate as many eligible AAPI voters as possible to ensure we are an integral part of building a vibrant, multiracial democracy. This $1 million infusion to grassroots groups will bolster ongoing efforts to mobilize this essential voting bloc that will help determine who wins up and down the ballot this November.”

AAPIs are the country’s fastest-growing group of eligible voters, with 15 million people eligible to vote in the upcoming presidential elections. A recent poll conducted by the AAPI Democracy Fund in seven swing states — Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Nevada, and Wisconsin — shows expected turnout among AAPI voters this fall will far exceed 2020’s overall margin of victory in each state, making this community one of the most decisive factors in the elections.
